Dala’il al-khayrat (‘The Guide to Happiness’) is primarily a compilation of prayers for the Prophet Muhammad, but also includes a description of the Prophet’s tomb and a list of names ascribed to him (such as ‘Seal of the Prophets’ and ‘Rightly Guided’). The text was compiled by Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Jazuli, a native of Morocco, in the fifteenth century and was especially popular in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, in both Turkey and North Africa, and remains popular to this day. This particular copy of the text is extensively illuminated and is square in format, as are many Moroccan manuscripts.
