Central Asia
The cut of this male garment is typically Mongol with its full skirt for riding, its broad wrap-over, the extremely long sleeves and waist support made of silk cords. The textile itself worked with metal threads has a design with small medallions enclosing the images of djeiran, lion and lotus. Such garments made of cloth of gold were worn by the highest ranks of Mongol society. Nomads of Central Asia treasured textiles and used them to convey status.
