This elaborately carved wood panel has a central 12-point radiating star that extends outward to form a strong geometric, symmetrical pattern of multi-shaped polygons with raised edges. Carved in the centre of the large polygon forms are scrolling arabesques in high relief while smaller polygons are unornamented, creating high surface contrast. Purchased at auction in 1972.
