Description:

The fabric is decorated in the centre with a large motif of a vase of flowers inside a pointed frame that rests on two small columns, at the base of which there are two cypress trees. The lower part of the fabric depicts a gated entrance crowned with a crescent moon beneath an epigraphic motif in Arabic characters. On either side there are large cypress trees beside star motifs. The entire piece is framed with plant volutes with lance-shaped leaves and four- and five-petal flowers. The decoration consists of gold- and silver-plated wire embroidery.

This fabric is of Turkish origin produced in the late Ottoman era and is characterised by naturalistic floral motifs, in which the influence of Western decorative trends can be clearly seen.
