Mudéjar Art
Art produced by Muslim craftsmen in Christian Spain is known as Mudéjar art. Despite the political and religious pressures of the Christian Reconquista, Muslim craftsmen remained highly valued for their great skills and Christian clients in Spain and abroad often turned to them for the decoration of secular as well as religious works.
Mudéjar art is known for its striking lustre ceramics, which include albarellos and dishes bearing the coats of arms of European patrons. Mudéjar woodwork was also popular both as furniture and as church decoration.
